SYMBIoT was built by hoteliers and operators who lived the frustrations of legacy building systems.

Our Story

SYMBIoT didn’t start in a lab, it started inside hotel bedrooms, student flats, mechanical plant rooms and operational control offices.


We were hoteliers, operators and facilities teams first. We experienced the real frustrations of running buildings using legacy systems designed for a different era — platforms built for plant equipment, not people; alarm logs, not experiences; reactions, not prediction.

 

So we rethought building management from the ground up: starting with the occupied room, not the boiler room.

 

We wanted a system that could keep guests comfortable, reduce energy consumption, predict failures and empower teams, without ripping out the existing BMS or mechanical controls. That was the beginning of SYMBIoT.

What SYMBIoT Means

SYMBIoT /ˈsɪm.bi.ɒt/

 

“A smart, connected building ecosystem where rooms, plant and people interact symbiotically through intelligent data and control.”

 

The name comes from two ideas merged together:

 

Symbio – From symbiosis,  meaning “a mutually beneficial relationship between different organisms living closely together.”

 

IoT “Internet of Things” — the technology that connects equipment, sensors, devices and cloud intelligence into one digital network.

 

Together, SYMBIoT means a symbiotic Internet of Things: A unified building intelligence layer where every component — rooms, boilers, chillers, fans, FCUs, sensors and plant equipment — works together in harmony to deliver better comfort, reliability, energy performance and guest satisfaction.

Traditional BMS systems were built for plant rooms, not people. They detect technical faults, but they don’t understand comfort.
